The data shows:

As a result of major project cancellations, delays, and the ongoing escalation of material and labour costs, the past year has witnessed a heightened need for commercial experts. This financial impact has prompted our clients to seek commercial resources capable of optimising their profits, minimising expenses, and offering legal counsel on contract matters to ensure they recover owed funds.

Design insights

Zac Conley Design Consultant

With recent HS2 developments in mind, there has been considerable buzz and speculation about the future of UK infrastructure, particularly in the rail sector.

Engaging in discussions with numerous clients and candidates, we've gained valuable insights into the unfolding processes, which have proven to be quite encouraging. Many clients are confirming both ongoing and additional work within their major Network Rail frameworks, offering robust contract updates for their existing contract workforce.

In recent weeks, our team has observed a substantial uptick in the advertisement and discussion of contract opportunities, notably in the E&P and Signalling disciplines. These opportunities are characterised by their long-term nature and offer clear progression pathways.

Despite potential perceptions of a slower pace, the rail industry is currently in an intriguing phase, with CP7 workloads being awarded and others reaching their final stages. This is poised to lead to a significant surge in workload across diverse clients, including SMEs, Principal Designers, and End Clients.
